How do I create and remove an addon domain in cPanel?

Note: You may not be able to create an Addon Domain if you do not own (register) the domain name, or if your name servers (DNS) have not propagated.

You will only be able to create an addon domain in your cPanel if you’re allowed to add extra domains on your current hosting package. Click here to check if you’re allowed to add addon domains on your current package. You can then upgrade within your client area if you want a package that can have addon domains.

With addon domains you can host multiple different domains with different website content, all under the same hosting package/account but it will use the disk space and bandwidth of the current hosting package that you’re on. To create/add an addon domain name, please do the following:

Login to your cPanel and click “Addon Domains”, under the Domains section. There are three fields that your will need to fill in.

  1. New Domain Name: Enter the new domain for example, but do not put http or www in the field.
  2. Username/directory/subdomain Name: This will be the folder cPanel creates in your public_html folder. Normally, you want to ensure the name you provide doesn’t already exist as a folder in public_html, but cPanel will automatically suggest the name and we recommend you stick with the suggestion.
  3. Password: Fill in any password you want here. This password is used for an FTP account which is automatically created by cPanel but it’s unlikely that you will ever use this FTP account as you can access this folder with the root login details. But you can maybe give this to a developer if you don’t them to have access to your files that’s in the main public_html folder.

Your new domain has now been successfully added. You can upload the website files to the new folder that was created in the public_html folder.

Reminder: Your new domain name will not display your site until you set that domain’s name servers. You will need to register a new domain and point it to our name servers which is and
